On Tuesday, I introduced H.R. 9942, the Valley Fever Awareness and Vaccine Development and Manufacturing Act of 2024. This bill will expedite a human Valley Fever vaccine, a fungal infection that affects thousands across our Valley. Sacramento and national politicians have overlooked Valley Fever because it doesn’t impact larger cities like Sacramento, Los Angeles, or San Francisco, but it’s a serious health threat for our Valley families.

My bill appoints a Federal Vaccine Coordinator, increases awareness, and invests $250 million. It’s a huge step forward to protect our Valley community, ensuring Washington and Sacramento prioritizes our health. I’m proud to have more support Democrat and Republican support than any other Valley Fever bill this year and I’ll continue working with both parties to get real results!!! Valley families are paying too much for their prescription medications. I recently met with Dr. Jeffrey Hill, owner of a local Merced pharmacy, to discuss how I can continue to reduce rising drug prices. I’m fighting to ensure everyone in our community can access affordable and effective medications.

I joined Rob Doornbos of WeatherTools and Don Wright to discuss how weather forecasting can modernize California’s water management. Meeting with local leaders is crucial to implement improvements I secured over the last two years. I’m also pushing forward with the WATER for California Act to expand storage, streamline delivery, ensure better water management, and empower local leaders.

Last week, I cut the ribbon for the 2024 Merced Walk to End Alzheimer’s! I’m proud to support the NAPA Reauthorization Act, which funds Alzheimer's and dementia research. This bill strengthens research funding, improves access to support services, and develops better strategies for prevention and care. We must work together to give Valley families the resources to tackle this devastating disease.
