Here in the Central Valley, we rely on the strength and contributions of our immigrant communities to keep our agriculture and economy thriving. However, our immigration system is broken, leaving many of our friends, families, and community members in the shadows. As your representative, I’ve listened to local mayors and leaders who understand the unique needs of our communities. Yesterday, we worked to revise and refine a comprehensive immigration reform proposal that addresses these challenges head-on. I invited every local Mayor, regardless of party, to help improve the bill I am introducing in September. I will continue working with Democrats and Republicans to protect our immigrant communities in Washington today and every day. This bill is designed to protect our communities, secure our border, and create a fair pathway to citizenship for those who contribute to our economy and nation.
