Last week, I invited local Mayors from both political parties to discuss my new immigration bill in Kerman. I collaborated with seven local mayors, including Kerman Mayor Maria Pacheco to get their input on my bill that will improve our broken immigration system.  

I began developing the legislation with their feedback to ensure it meets the needs of all of our communities. Soon your mayor’s voice will be heard in Washington! I’m committed to protecting our immigrant communities and creating a more effective immigration system.

I’m proud to share that I hosted my 6th, 7th, and 8th town hall this month! In West Modesto, we had a great discussion about the high grocery prices that are hurting our families. 

While some of the attendees only spoke Spanish, I heard their messages loud and clear - we need to improve our immigration system, reduce grocery prices, and strengthen our communities. I’m committed to being a voice for every member of our community in Washington, regardless of their language.

While the primary language differed in Coalinga and Merced, the problems and solutions stayed the same. I will continue to fight in Congress to solve our Valley’s unique problems!

Last week, I sent a letter to Governor Newsom with several of my Congressional colleagues. The Governor’s proposal would withhold gasoline from the market and make gas prices higher. Self serving politicians in Sacramento already hurt families enough with the gas tax and it is time to fight back against these policies. Without fighting back, we might experience a gas shortage and much higher prices. Governor Newsom’s proposal threatens to make it more expensive, or impossible, to drive your car. As your Congressman, I will continue to fight against policies that unnecessarily raise gas prices and hurt your family. 

We’ve assembled the dream team to fight for our Valley’s water, farms, and groceries. The Natural Resources Subcommittee on Water, Wildlife and Fisheries will discuss California's water supply, government regulations, and how to get more water to farms and families.

Agriculture is the backbone of our economy, and we need water policies that prioritize of our hard-working families, farmers, and small businesses.

Witnesses from local governmental and private roles will explore the opportunities and solutions to benefit our community.
