Dear [firstname],
Our Valley’s breast cancer patients deserve our immediate support. Delaying care even one day for our breast cancer patients is unacceptable. I, like most Americans, have seen this diagnosis destroy families. I’ve also seen how important rapid care can be for patients, families, friends, and our Valley. Removing unnecessary wait times is not an option for me; it's an obligation as a father, husband, community member, and your Congressman.
I’ve worked with Democrats and Republicans and endorsed a new law to improve access for late-stage breast cancer patients. The proposal, H.R. 549, seeks to eliminate the 5-month waiting period for Social Security Disability Insurance coverage and the 24-month waiting period for Medicare coverage. These waiting periods are a death sentence, and I will continue to work with both parties to eliminate them.
