Peace Officers Research Association of California (PORAC) Supports Rep. Duarte’s Anti-Drug Bill

WASHINGTON — Today, the Peace Officers Research Association of California announced their support for Congressman John Duarte’s new bill which seeks to combat the spread of fentanyl and other illegal drugs in the Central Valley and across the United States.

"I want to thank the Peace Officers Research Association of California (PORAC) for endorsing my new bill, the High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Reauthorization Act of 2024. Representing over 80,000 public safety members and 955 public safety associations, PORAC's backing underscores the significance of this legislation in empowering law enforcement to effectively combat drug trafficking in our communities. I remain committed to advancing this legislation," said Rep. Duarte.

PORAC joins a list of law enforcement groups who support Rep. Duarte’s bill. They include, but are not limited to, the National HIDTA Director's Association, National Narcotic Officers’ Associations’ Coalition (NNOAC), Major County Sheriffs of America (MCSA) and Association of State Criminal Investigative Agencies (ASCIA).

"PORAC is proud to support the HIDTA Reauthorization Act of 2024, which would provide law enforcement with the tools necessary to combat illegal drug trafficking and strengthen coordination between federal, state, and local law enforcement," said Brian R. Marvel, President of PORAC. "Illicit drug trafficking has devastated communities nationwide, which is why it is so important to support law enforcement in their efforts to crack down on drug cartels—by both preventing drugs from entering our communities in the first place and holding traffickers accountable for distributing these harmful substances. We appreciate Rep. Duarte’s work on this important effort to support our nation’s peace officers and look forward to working together to advance this legislation."
