Duarte Seeks Veteran for Green & Gold Congressional Aide Program in Turlock Office

TURLOCK, CA – Today, Congressman John Duarte (CA-13) announced that he is seeking a Veteran, Gold Star Family member, or Active-Duty Spouse for a paid position to handle veterans-related casework in his Turlock office.

"Having an experienced member of this community acting as a liaison between Valley veterans, myself, and our federal government will enhance our ability to effectively advocate for our veterans’ needs, and deliver tangible results," said Rep. Duarte. "I’m committed to ensuring that our veterans are taken care of and receive the rights and benefits they are entitled to."


Background

The Green & Gold Congressional Aide Program (G&G CAP) was established to create employment opportunities within the U.S. House of Representatives for Veterans, Gold Star Families, and Active-Duty Spouses.

Veteran Applicant Requirements
  • Honorably discharged;
  • Released from active duty within the last six years;
  • Pay grades at or below E-5/O-3/W-2;
  • Veterans who are in receipt of a 20-year or Temporary Early Retirement (TERA) retirement are not eligible for the program.
Gold Star Family Applicant Requirements
Applicants must be the spouse, child/step-child, parent/step-parent, sibling/step-sibling of a veteran who died:
  • In the line of duty while serving in the Armed Forces; or
  • Of a service-connected disability.
Active-Duty Spouse Applicant Requirements
Must be the spouse of an Active-Duty service member. Active-duty service members work for the military full-time and are subject to permanent change of station, or permanent change of assignment orders, upon completion of each tour of duty.
