Rep. Duarte Votes in Favor of Fiscal Responsibility Act

Democrats and Republicans are working together to fight inflation, help working families, and protect small businesses.

WASHINGTON – Congressman John Duarte (CA-13) issued the following statement in response to the recently proposed Fiscal Responsibility Act:

“I am proud to have reached a bipartisan compromise with President Biden to pay our debts while putting working families and small businesses first. After years of uncertainty, Democrats and Republicans have worked together to build a stronger economy that protects the futures of our children.

This plan supports working families by protecting and increasing funding for social security, Medicare, and veterans’ benefits, ends wasteful Washington spending programs, and fights out of control inflation. By clawing back unspent COVID funding, promoting American energy, and limiting federal spending we will put more money back into the pockets of working families.

These recent negotiations are a perfect example of democracy at work. By working with President Biden, we have taken the first step in keeping the US from defaulting and put an end to out-of-control inflationary spending. Growing our economy, lifting families out of poverty, and protecting our veterans is a win for California and a win for our children,” said Rep. Duarte.
