WASHINGTON - Congressman John Duarte (CA-13) issued the following statement regarding Turkey’s retaliatory tariffs on American almonds.
“Earlier this week, myself and Rep. Jim Costa (CA-21) led an effort to ask the United States Trade Representative, Katherine Tai, to engage with Turkey regarding newly imposed retaliatory tariffs on American almonds. These tariffs will hurt our almond farmers in the Central Valley who produce nearly 80% of the global almond production, and help support the over 100,000 Americans that are employed in this industry. Together, we’re making sure Washington stands up for our farmers and our Valley,” said Rep. Duarte.
