Congressman Duarte Cosponsors Bipartisan Resolution Honoring Our Valley Veterans

Washington, D.C. – , November 11, 2024

Congressman John Duarte (CA-13) joined Congressman Michael Guest (MS-03) to cosponsor a bipartisan Veterans Day resolution to honor the service and sacrifice of our Valley veterans and their families.

The resolution recognizes the significance of Veterans Day: honoring all who have served in the United States military. It highlights how veterans preserved American freedoms throughout our Nation’s history, their families’ sacrifices, and the importance of guaranteeing veterans access to the care and support they earned.

“Our Valley veterans embody the best of American values—courage, service, and sacrifice. Their dedication inspires us all,” said Rep. Duarte. “I’m proud to join my colleagues from both parties in honoring our veterans.”

Background:

  • Veterans Day was first established in 1954 to honor all American veterans, both past and present.1
  • Over 18 million veterans live in the United States as of 2023.2
  • California is home to 1.35 million veterans, representing 7.3% of the nation’s veteran population.
    • 18,290 veterans call our Valley home, including 16,534 men and 1,756 women, making them a vital part of the Central Valley’s history and future.3
  • The resolution reinforces the importance of supporting our Valley’s veterans’ services and recognizing the sacrifices of their families, as well as the work of advocacy organizations.
